His highest >>performance<< in Germany was 2121 in 1996 but his DWZ-rating did never get above 2000. So he might be a German 2000- or an Hungarian 2300+ ..?

Here is an intervew with him in German (google-translated):

http://translate.google.de/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fglareanverlag.wordpress.com%2F2011%2F03%2F05%2Finterview-mit-dem-schach-schriftsteller-martin-weteschnik%2F&act=urlAoxomoxoA wonderinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16058687381216896080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846266856681564818.post-26820138585024649632012-11-18T10:14:00.035-08:002012-11-18T10:14:00.035-08:00Nobody has gone so far as to make an allegation he...Nobody has gone so far as to make an allegation here. A significant proportion of 150 games at $100-$200 a game would be a substantial financial outlay, to reach a temporary 2300. Also, there are numerous famous examples by GMs (and lesser players) of one-move blunders that also get overlooked by their opponents. I've posted some on my blog.

It is disappointing to see purely speculative accusations of the above sort against Weteschnik without a better factual basis. I have no idea how exactly Weteschnik accomplished his FIDE ratings rise or how strong he is today, but his book on understanding tactics was useful at least for me, if not for everyone.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846266856681564818.post-30809291146544354522012-11-15T11:12:26.408-08:002012-11-15T11:12:26.408-08:00Thank you very much for that.
